First football of the year

Shot my son's scrimmage game. Ive been itching to get the D3 under the lights so Ive been anxious for the season to start. This was in daylight, of course. My son's 1st tackle of the year and he gets called for a "horse collar"! LOL This is one of a burst of 4-5.

Re: First football of the year

I always Like your photos, But I feel this was a miss. The photo was from the other side of the field. The reason I say that is the photo needs faces to make it better.

My brother and I joked about sports photos and backs, We always get backs!! so we wanted to make a thread on sports photos and backs. Its so hard to say if its correct or not because your photo tells a story and I even like the way its laid out

I dislike backs in photos if there aren't any faces to support the rest of the photo.

Great action , great exposure, but no faces.

Re: First football of the year

Totally agree with you. His approach to the runner was facing me but he spun him around the wrong way! I need to have a talk with him. The shot before this, which I shouldve posted shows the runner's face a bit more. Thanks for looking!

Nice timing and light but I agree about the faces. Also, I know I harp on this but watch those backgrounds. I would love to see the frame before and how about the next one.

Good point to make the photo better. The background thing is just like the faces. the photo is good but to make it great you need to get faces and blow out the background.

99% of my photos have the same problems no face and to much or to little Depth of Field , Its just part of the hard type of photograph we chose to try to master.

Re: First football of the year

Harp away Velo, I appreciate and respect your critique. Could you clarify what you mean by your background comment? Shoot wider open or position myself as to eliminate the stands altogether?
