Re: Close up Owl

Is the bird standing on a bamboo? The bokeh along with the green background is beautiful. The texture of the feather is clear. I like this photo.

Re: Close up Owl

Ok Fellas - I have posted many pictures of Owl Finches on this board over time. Technically this is a Bicheno Finch also known as an Owl Finch. It is holding on to a stalk of a lemongrass plant (which is about 10ft tall). The photo was taken out of my office window from a distance of about 3.5 to 4 foot away. We have a bird feeder hanging from the edge of the window awning which is out of sight to the left of the bird. We often get up to 30 of these at a time visiting the feeder. If you look back at my previous photos you will see some shots with them lined up on the lemongrass like in the attachment to this photo. We also get a few chestnut mannikens (also finches) so I have included a shot on one of these here as well.

Love the photos thanks for posting. Also thanks for clarifying the names of the birds. Owls from my area look different so I was wondering if you maybe posted the wrong photo with the post. I was wrong it was a owl finch.

Anyhow its a great photo and now I learned something to boot.
