Ducks

I decided to try my hand at some larger targets this afternoon. I know I need more practice, so I would appreciate any advice you guys could provide to improve my shots. I would really have loved to have gotten better angles on the eyes.

Nikon D70, Sigma 70-200/f2.8, aperture priority @ f/8, most @ 200mm, ISO200

Re: Ducks

I like the first one also. The other two are not as good. But the composition of the fist is a 10. and the photo has a nice texture in the upper part

I always loved the sigma line how do you like the lens?

Re: Ducks

Composition on 1 works well, it would be a poor image if he was looking ahead or the other way, but he is looking into the image and that makes all the difference (though I wish I could make out his eye!).
#2 is way too bright, I would use shadow/highlight tool in Photoshop to tone down the highlights and bring back some color in the water.
#3 looks like he is hurling up his breakfast after a night of drinking! I have to give it some props as it makes me laugh every time I see it! (I'm not trying to be a jerk so if it comes off that way let me apologize in advance, it just reminds me of a duck throwing up...I swear I can see his eyes closed tight and the look of disgust on his face, but that may just be me...)
Keep shooting!
