A few nights of frost have killed most of the flowers around here but temps. in the 70's today had the hover flies out. They are small enough that most people never notice them (about 1/8" in length).

Canon 30D, 105mm Sigma + 68mm extension + 1.4 Extender (about 3X magnification), ISO 200, F/16, 1/250 sec., flash at -2.0 FEC.

Great eye detail. Im thinking a little less crop would be better. Id love to see the ends of the wings.

Normally I do like to get everything in the shot. In this case, I was looking for the eye detail so used all of the magnification in my bag. This shot is full frame. Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment.
