A Crested Crane from a zoo visit in September. I came across this one while cleaning up some disk space.

Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment.

This was with the 70-200 + 1.4 extender at f/4 (280mm), ISO 200, 1/6400 sec., -0.7 EC.

It was a very bright, contrasty day so this image had some problems. The birds beak and lower portion of the "beard" were selected in Photoshop and a selective burn done to help with some hot spots. The dark areas of the head and upper neck were selected and a light dodge was done to bring some details in the darker shadows up. The eye was selected and given a saturation boost in the blues and slightly sharpened. The image was then flattened, sharpened, saturated in the reds a bit and resized for posting.
Best Regards,
Butch Armstrong

I love the backlight on the crest, really makes it pop.

Great shot... I really like the way the eyes standout
Pentax K20D and K110D
Sigma 70-200 2.8
Sigma 17-50 2.8
Sigma 24-300 3.5-6.4

Try to save life’s memories one photo at a time.
